When using real oats, the nutrient content can change from field to field and from harvest to harvest. To ensure that we can offer the same drink each time which matches the nutrient content stated on the carton, we measure the nutrient composition of each production and make sure that the content is the same.<\/p>\n

Because there can be differences in the vitamin and mineral levels in the harvested corn, we have decided to regulate the contents to ensure a consistent product. Sometimes we might add 100 g of calcium to a 20-tonne batch, and at other times we will not add anything at all. The same applies to vitamin D and vitamin B12.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We do not use artificial preservatives to preserve our products. All DRYK\u2019s products are UHT-treated, which is a method of preserving liquid foods by heating the products for a short period of time. Afterwards, the sterilised products are packed in a \u2018closed system\u2019, called aseptic packaging, which ensures that the product can keep for at least one year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

One 250 ml glass of DRYK Oat Drink contains 300 mg of calcium, which corresponds to more than a third of your recommended dietary intake. In addition, you obtain further calcium via your diet, for example in beans, peas, cabbage, nuts etc. Most Danes consume enough calcium as long as they eat a varied diet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Our products have the same natural sugar content as oats. Thus, no sugars are added to our products apart from our Pea-based drinks and our Oat Cocoa Drink, which has a small amount of sugar added. Oat<\/strong>
The oats are grown in the Nordic region. They are grown in a belt that extends from Finland, across central Sweden and southern Norway to Northern Jutland.<\/p>\n

Peas<\/strong>
The peas we use come from France. They are particularly suitable for producing Pea Drink, and at the moment it is not possible to grow this variety in the Nordics.<\/p>\n

Cocoa<\/strong>
The cocoa comes from the Ivory Coast in Africa, and carries the Rainforest Alliance Certification Seal. The cocoa tree requires conditions which are not found in our latitudes. The fact
that the cocoa carries the Rainforest Alliance Certification Seal means that the suppliers focus on preserving rainforest faunas and environments worldwide. Moreover, this focus also embraces protecting ecosystems and sustainable development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Our plant-based drinks have been carefully developed to contain as few ingredients as possible. We dispense with less important ingredients, leaving only those which are absolutely necessary. Calcium carbonate and potassium carbonate are added as acidity regulators. The conventional plant drinks contains dipotassium phosphate, which is a great acidity regulator that ensures stability when mixed with coffee. In the developing of the organic oat barista, a lot of ingredients and compositions were tested, to get a product as close to the same taste profile and performace of the conventional, as possible. The result was a lower oil content. If your plant-based drink splits when it is poured into the coffee and it has not exceeded the expiration date, it is probably caused by the meeting between cold and hot. When plant-based drinks are stored cold, such as in the fridge, and poured directly into a hot coffee, it can split. The company needed a name, and the choice fell on Dryk.<\/p>\n

\u2018Dryk\u2019 is an Old Danish word for drink, and first appears in about 1300, and can be found in the Gammeldansk Seddelsamling, a collection of about 950,000 slips (with 30,000 entries) with quotes from the Middle Ages in Danish<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

No, all our plant-based drinks can be used for exactly the same purposes as cow\u2019s milk. Plant-based drinks can be used, for example, in your coffee, for cooking, baking, in your smoothies etc.<\/p>\n

The only difference with the barista varieties is that they have had a bit more fat added. There is also more fibre in our oat variety, as we use oats which have not been hulled, which is otherwise the norm. This means that the outer part of the oat grains \u2013 the hull \u2013 is also used and not just the groats.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The barista varieties are specially developed to meet the needs and wishes of baristas, whether professional or amateur. You can use our barista varieties exactly as you would use our other plant-based drinks \u2013 and vice versa. The only difference is that the barista varieties have a slightly higher fat content. You will, for example, be able to taste the difference in your coffee exactly as if you were using milk with different fat percentages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Our Oat Barista has added vitamins and minerals for a higher nutritional value. When vitamins and minerals are added to a product, it is not permitted by law to call the product organic. If you want a product which is 100% organic, then choose our Organic Oat Barista<\/a>, which does not have any added vitamins and minerals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We want our products to be healthy and ideally made from local raw ingredients. Soy, rice and almonds all have a big carbon impact, as they are usually grown or produced on the other side of the world.<\/p>\n

There are also a couple of other factors:<\/p>\n

Almonds<\/strong> are a crop that requires vast quantities of water. Growing a single almond uses 4 litres of water, and it takes about 16 cubic metres of water to grow 1 kg of almonds. Even though almond milk tastes good, we have decided not to include it in our range.<\/p>\n

Rice<\/strong> is a product that generally has a very high sugar content. Consequently, DRYK does not wish to have it in our range. <\/p>\n

Soybeans<\/strong> can also be problematic. Many of them are genetically modified, and are therefore illegal in Europe. In addition, soybeans are one of the main reasons for felling tropical rainforest in South America. We do not want to contribute to this development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

If a product is not of animal origin, according to legislation it cannot be called \u2018milk\u2019. Even though plant-based drinks can in many ways replace milk, they have to be called plant drinks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Plant-based products, including plant-based drinks, have a significantly lower carbon impact than animal foods. This is because plants require a far smaller area than livestock and also need smaller quantities of water. Replacing livestock with crops reduces the amount of water required by 87% and requires only one eleventh of the land area, freeing up more space for our suffering nature. We use raw ingredients which are sourced as locally as possible to minimise transport.<\/p>\n

Moreover, our plant-based drinks have a shelf-life of 12 months at room temperature from the date of production.
